I recently took a long riverside walk along the Thames from the Barrier at Woolwich to Waterloo, passing through the areas you describe here. The section of the South Bank between the hideous dome and Greenwich is an especially fascinating stretch - an abandoned quarter of upturned supermarket trolleys and small scale industry gone to seed - the odour of a disused glue factory still lingering. Still, I found the environs refreshing compared to the grotesque towers of the Isle of Dogs across the water. It would be great to see the "hostile impatience" you describe become even more intolerant of those finance idiots.

I think you and I have similar opinions, especially when it comes to art criticism. I just started a blog about Texas Contemporary Art. I am interested to have your input. My blog's address is texasartsnob.wordpress.com. If nothing else, you should keep going. I think we're heading in the right direction.
Sincerely,
RJS
